…”What does it mean?!!” The double rainbow dude had us all rolling earlier this year with that phrase. So amazing (and hilarious) his reaction to the Double Rainbow in January 2010. That is the power NATURE has over people. In so many more ways than one! It is majestic, daunting, and simply put unmoveable by man. Something we MUST accept. ’The ‘force to be reckoned with. Something so much bigger than ourselves! Something breathtaking. Quite literally, when the time becomes right.
It happened again, this breathtaking natural force last friday. BAM! Double Rainbow!* Although I didn’t go, “Full-on” ‘D.R.-Dude’…pretty darned close. 2010 has been very special from beginning to end. I have said so many times this year that I feel a strong ”High-Vibrational” MAGNETIC~ natural alignment. People creating venues and highways for autistic people to be heard. A progression that is a long time coming. The progression toward mainstream understanding and recognition! Forces of Autistic Nature to be reckoned with, BY ALL PEOPLE! Most importantly, FOR ALL PEOPLE! Exactly where the A.S.D. population needs to be. UNDERSTOOD & ACCEPTED and ACREDITED. ‘Seen’ ~Under the Double Rainbow!
Last friday at my L.A. Co. fair I was under one and did’nt even know it.To the unaware eye just one was visible. My photo later vaguely revealed that there were two. When I compared notes with the AutismHWY.com web designer Alison in San Diego, she saw both bows and took these great shots!
Upon finding this out an interesting thought occured to me. Let me see if I can explain it……I see life as a rainbow of differences and perceptions. A spectrum of colors and diversity. We, in the world of Autism understand this concept completely. We’ve dubbed it ‘ The SPECTRUM.’ We live with it on a minute by minute basis. Our rainbow can move through the range of color/ emotion very rapidly. Ever-changing and shifting. Day in and day out.Yes,as human beings we crave and need predictability. At the same time we as A.S.D. families learn to count on the unexpected. So I guess what I am saying is that we need EVERYONE to open up to that concept. To the idea that things are NOT so predictable. That people are unexpected. Just because someone walks parallel to you. Their brain~style may not be parallel to yours. Just because you only see 1 rainbow…doesn’t mean there aren’t really 2. Our rainbow is there, parallel to yours ~just invisible to the unaware eye! Don’t assume that your rainbow is the only one under the sun. Know that there are people on another spectrum living parallel to you!!
In essence “The Double Rainbow” effect. This is…in my mind, “What IT means”!!
The ‘ASD / NT’ FULL~ON Double Rainbow effect….woah~~~!
An Amazing ARTIST that has become my friend created this beautiful work with this thought provoking title!! It is profound, really. People have things staring them in the face everyday. Seemingly very appearant yet, obviously not seen. This can describe AUTISM. How it feels for US. The parents, families and care-givers.You are essentially operating in 2 REALITIES …1 WORLD!! We walk the tight-rope with ourchildren. With essentially all the worlds professionals. Some aware of ASD’s others~ not so much. Out in the community…our kids need people to not assume they are “typical.” Autism is such that we need to explain the world to our children. AND…explain our children to the world!! We are their “buffers,” their “conduits,” their translators. We are all those things and more. So we see both worlds! Our minds are anything but “Abstract!” lol
That is why Wendy McCormick Lopez is such a wonder. Dealing with a beautiful ASD son. Complicates the daily routine in ANY # of ways… ADD a daughter, family life and a career. Your lucky what even fits in after that!! Well , lucky we are!! Wendy’s work is stunning …take a look for yourself! You will love the feelings that will be evoked!
She has a beautiful soothing style. I love the way her work makes me feel. Very calm very zen…something not always so readily available in spectrum life!! lol …So definitely take a peak at her work. Months ago I asked Wendy if I could use her designs in my home. I have envisioned a zen spa bathroom with this amazing look…
Just STUNNING isn’t it? So much like all of life ~INTERPRETATION is the key!! If you see a great future despite an unwanted diagnosis you can have it. If you see gloom and doom, you are bound to it!! THIS MUCH I HAVELEARNED!! Sure an ASD Lifestyle is not a bed of roses. We all have a set of challenges we manage. How we rise to that CHALLENGE creativity iswhere it isat.Let our kids create!! Parents and Teachers across the globe need to realize this and push past the “budget constraints.” is the real test. More and more I am in the belief that
We can accomplish A LOT as passionate caring parents of the SPECTRUM! Grass roots efforts will be popping up!! I am seeing this EVERYWHERE!! Our individuals NEED VENUES!! To create and do what “Comes~Naturally” So get busy planting the seeds for creativefutures…invent ways and means in your neighborhoods!! AutismHWY.com will be announcing something SPECIAL in this regard very soon!! As for “Knowing what AUTISM looks like?”… I will hope that in OUR “NEW” Creative FUTURES will start to look a little deeper MULTI~DIMENSIONAL World!! people and see if they really know what they are looking at …in this very
Very beautiful, very soothing , very ZEN!! VERY ~AUTISM FRIENDLY~! A little bit of EDEN right here in California!! We just returned from our annual trip! Sunday was a perfect day to enjoy all of that beauty and more. The weather was warm and sunny with lots of shade and water to keep cool if need be!! If you have not heard about this AMAZING place….then please by all means, pull up a chair! We first discovered this magic garden through the T.V. show “California’s Gold” with Hewell Howser! My brother Kevin was intrigued by the “Circus Trees.”
An amazing man, Axel Erlandson created them in the1920′s. He was the son of a Swedish immigrant and when he saw Sycamore trees grafting through natural processes he had a brilliant idea. To graft several trees into architecture. The results are stunning. His vision and foresight to create beauty in this manner is unparalleled! These trees are WORTH the trip alone. After Mr. Erlandson had passed away these specimens were languishing without his loving arborists care. There were people caring for the trees by trespassing! Luckily Michael Bonfante was constructing this amazing garden park in Gilroy when he heard about the plight of the Circus Trees! He for all intense purposes rescued them, bringing them to this beautiful new home!! He took on the monumental task of uprooting and relocating them!! AN INCREDIBLE VISION!! The VISION of complete beauty and love for nature. That is what you feel as you stroll every inch of this park! Oh yes there are plenty of fun and thrilling rides for all the kids to enjoy. The setting also is just so overwhelmingly serene. Wyatt, having been on the more severe side of the SPECTRUM loves this park! The place is NATURALLY Autism Friendly!! There are so many nooks and crannies for “CHILLAXIN!!” You can ALSO get a pass to forgo any waits you may encounter. Go to the public-relations desk and you will be given a packet of info. Present this if the lines are too long for your ASD child to handle…and you will be escorted on the ride quickly. OR given a precise time to return for your turn!! You have got to LOVE THAT!!
There are many, many ways to get sensory needs met here! Wyatt has a high energy favorite in the Balloon Ride!! He loves it in the basket spinning through the wind!!! Nothing better in his book. There are other spinning and swinging rides for that deep input. Real Jolts!! There are also rides with a much gentler “Jolt Factor” as well. There is a wonderful train-ride that circles the park in 2 routes. You can travel 1~way OR round~trip!! At the top of the park you will find the fun SPLASH GARDEN!! When you feel the need for a cool-down this is the place to be!! From mists to sprays to buckets …Water can be FUN!! Bring your suit and towel. Or choose a new one from the supplies on sale!! However you enjoy your sensory needs being met. There is something for EVERYONE HERE!! BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY & ENJOY!!
Yes~ you have heard that before. Yes~ it does seem that roadwork is NEVER completed! lol…Some cities more than others! Those “Big Project” construction signs always amaze me. This to be completed 2012…”2 and 3 yr. builds and contracts” are nothing new for California Highways. There are so many existing freeways plus the work to widen and add more. We can virtually criss~cross all over the state if we want to!! Some do with all the varied therapiesfrom community to community!!
Well, after a 1 yr. plan and build the AutismHWY is almost travel ready!! I have been working so closely with our amazing construction crew!! Our “CalTrans.” So to speak!
They have been such a pleasure professionally and personally. Just an amazing company! Understanding all of my concepts and learning about the SPECTRUM in order to do an excellent job. Very thoughtful, efficient and SUPER CREATIVE! I really can’t say enough about them! Soon we will be fine tuning all of the actions of the site. My hopes are all goes smoothly as we pave out these final touches!! You KNOW ME…I will assuredly keep you posted!!
As we approach our wholeNEW HORIZONAutismHWY.com hopes that we will stimulate Awareness through common UNDERSTANDING. Once the world has a working knowledge about what ASDBRIGHTEREVERYONE!! Liberate your minds because the road is going to become less narrow once the AutismHWY is open for traffic!
It will be a whole new space for people to Connect AND Create on the SPECTRUM! My hope is that complete support teams link up~ with other complete support teams!! Then A.S.D. Individuals and their families, friends and caretakers…can link with others making a huge network to live a more supported life. With this many people linking and learning we can teach everyone else with no ASD experience “What time it is.”TIME FOR CHANGE!♥ ♥ ♥
