Kissing 2016 Goodbye!

Mwah!giraffe love misha and baby

2016

will be remembered as a very challenging and unpredictable year for ALL of US! It is so indicative of the fully-connected world we now live in. Information literally barraging us from every country creating more sifting and sorting than ever to be done. In a world bombarded by information (some of it very bad, some of it inaccurate and some of it actually FALSE!) Just know that your best information will actually come from …YOU! You and those you love and trust. AutismHWY urges you to be the best source of your You-niverse in 2017. Resolve to always follow your gut, trust your instincts and find your purpose. Align with people that follow those purposeful aspirations and breathe them to life!  Look inward then outward, care about yourself, care about others and transform your universe! If 2016 teaches us nothing else… it teaches us we live in a universe redefining itself. Let’s work together to define an amazing galaxy of embracement for Autistic people.

Our sixth year on the AutismHWY… talking and chalking Autism with friends saw many changes.

~In January friends were exploited by a website claiming to “champion” Autistic people. The Mighty is not so Mighty afterall. …#Cripthemighty

~We created our 5th coloring book filled with awesome Autistic Friends!

~Questioning authenticity became a matter of concern in the spring of this year. Exploitation sadly comes in many forms.

~Our 6th annual AutismHWY Chalk Festival event was RAINED OUT and re scheduled for the following weekend. Turning out superbly!

~Later that month we RE~CONNECTED with the amazing folks at ANCA Naturally Autistic!

WoW their Autism Documentary is excellent!

~On father’s day weekend we chalked at the worlds largest Chalk festival for our 4th year in a row! We CONNECTED Pasadena with Autistic people again!

~Our summertime chalking habit continued in Carpinteria for our 6th year! Always making us happy!

~In Ventura we were COOL CATS this year. Our 3rd charming time chalking the harbor!

~Our greatest pleasure in 2016 was by far our 2nd trip to the ANCA Naturally Autistic People Awards, Trade Show and World Autism Festival in beautiful Vancouver Canada. The talent, connection and friendship run deep launching dreams and careers. An amazing destination for Autistic people and those that love them! Love to OUR ANCA FAMILY 2016 and beyond!

~Autism Speaks seated 2 Autistic board members and removed the word CURE from their mission statement. Something remarkable in 2016. Hurray.

~We reached out to Melania Trump in support of her effort to urge change in communication. A kinder, clearer way to communicate in this world is needed! We agree Melania T.!

What does the HWY hold for us in 2017? No telling…

question mark

We just know that when we ALL stand strong in our self love, self knowledge and self worth our collective futures will be bigger and better than we can ever imagine.

AutismHWY’s 6th Drive Around the Sun

Our ANNIVERSARY…

quietly occurred this past week! ~December 16th 2010 was the exact date we went LIVE on this world wide web. OUR Drive on the AutismHWY ready to roll globally…full of natural positivity and pragmatism!

CELEBRATING RECOGNITION

We came on line to celebrate Autistic recognition… recognition that we believe has TRULY grown these past 6 trips around the sun!  Paving ways for matter of fact Autism recognition …with zero trepidations. More and more of us seeking to amplify and follow the Autistic voice and points of view which encourage natural transformation. Transformations that take you from feeling puzzled or fearful to lovingly abundant with pragmatic Autism innerstandings.

Global Recognition for ALL of US!

Global Recognition for ALL of US!

The Autistic point of view naturally understands and respects Autistic ways of being. Garner this vast knowledge which makes perfect sense Autisticly. Your heart and mind will evolve…much like this drawing created when we first began this journey at the beginning of the decade. A journey we leaned into and followed. Leading us to the innerstanding that the actual understanding of Autism would not be connected to us through “experts or specialists” but, instead more naturally…through the actual stories from Autistic people themselves.

FULL IMPACT RECOGNITION!

It happened here for us very quickly. After getting ourselves out onto the AutismHWY we met and began partnering with some of the most innovative and talented Autistic friends imaginable and quite frankly UN~imaginable!! ALL seeking Autistic recognition as well. Imagine the great JOY in that ?!

We went into instant action and chose chalk as one of our strongest allies! Talk is considered cheap and chalk is even cheaper! An experiment co-mingling : chalk, free expression and the JOY of Autistic life! Creating the AutismHWY.com Chalk Festival was our greatest free expression pleasure ever. Enjoying our once a year party full of ‘full on ACCEPTANCE’ rocks our Autistic universe! We are so proud to see that it rocks other people’s galaxies as well, as we look out and now see other chalk and Autism ventures popping up in our rear, front and side-view mirrors! A day in the sun full of street art, love and pragmatic Autism information all steeped in natural connection and acceptance. We call that a PARTY and invite the world to JOIN IN!

EMPOWERMENT EMPLOYED

During the years we have hosted the AutismHWY Chalk Festival and our website we see the tremendous forward growth. We STILL have to convince ‘some people’ that the word Autistic is not filled with negative connotations and that the word is most definitely NOT A SLUR and never was. More and more Autistic voices are proud to find that they are being heard. That their voices matter and are naturally emerging for long needed resolutions. This empowerment will in turn create the employment they seek. Companies thinking astutely will create the much needed platforms for Autistic people to come forward with their genuinely helpful and insightful facts. The days of dehumanizing generalizations monopolizing societies idea of what Autism is are numbered. Passing this REAL-LIFE/ REAL-TIME information baton will be hard for some non-Autistic people and self-proclaimed experts to do. The monopoly that has been enjoyed by them; speaking over and about Autistic people without them, is finally being stripped away inch by inch and we could not be happier to see that!

BURSTING PAINFUL BUBBLES

Sarah Van Deisel's beautiful creativity.

Sarah Van Deisel’s beautiful creativity.

Pain is a natural valid human expression both physically and emotionally, who knows that better than the Autistic community with such a twisted painful human history? Creating pain bubbles  however,  is not a healthy natural human expression. Many encapsulating Autism pain bubbles are created by parents and professionals for myriads of reasons. Fear and lack of tactical Autism knowledge head that very long list. To exploit, control and oppress people are other selfish reasons. Autistic people have pragmatic ways of bursting parental and professional ’pain bubbles’ to provide tactical aid but, due to the gaps in communicative stylings that often becomes painful too!  For the Autistic person trying to inform and for the parents or professionals of Autistic people not embracing their input. Painful and honestly…necessary,  much like the process of birth and ultimately of daily life. The pain and the pleasure of it ALL is at the heart of learning, growth and of being what we ALL are= expansively human. Exactly the expression we wanted to share with the friends made on this extravagant and fascinating highway! Where is the creativity if we stay in blue bubbles of pain speaking of consistent fear and states of puzzlement?  A cocoon of people stagnating in place is not the metamorphosis that, life IS! If you reside in a cocoon of pain with others in that same unempowered state, you are not experiencing the pleasures of this beautiful life and all of it’s natural painful unravelings. Seeking shelter in manufactured pain bubbles instead of insightful expansive empowerment is avoidable on the AutismHWY.  This painful bubble containment is what our website and Chalk festival event was created to BURST.  An ancient oppressive pattern that doesn’t serve Autistic people, our modern drive… our AutismHWY.

OUR DRIVE FORWARD

Think1

Includes Autistic people behind the wheel of accurate Autism information and in many other growing capacities.  As organization owners,  business partners, industry innovators, mentors, consultants, creative icons and friends. As rulers of their own ultimate Autistic destiny. Visionaries of a whole new age in learning styles for an emerging cultural and communication revolution. An era in which the world will finally get things right for an Autistic living in the universe. Freedom to be who and how you are. The gift of self and self worth that we were all naturally born to receive. Not defined, boxed and wrapped by other voices in the world. Not people lost or stuck in a world of their own but rather people tuned into THE REAL WORLD and their actual human experience. People with the birthright to be Autistic and to learn from other Autistic people.

THE TIME IS NOW!

AutismHWY Travels to ANCA Naturally Autistic: Chalk It For Autism 2016!

What an exciting initiative taking place at this year’s 7th ANCA WORLD Autism Festival Âû!
I am so pleased to announce that the AutismHWY.com / Chalk Festival and myself, will be coloring perceptions regarding Autism, at this amazing international gathering! I am so honored and excited to be returning to the Naturally Autistic People Awards in Vancouver Canada this fall as a …NOMINEE! My trip in 2011 as a sponsor partner was so inspiring and life changing. It will be fantastic to be back in this expansive vortex of complete acceptance and connection for AUTISTIC PEOPLE AND THEIR SUPPORTERS!
AWAF LOGO July 2016I am thrilled and so proud to be conducting an interactive Chalk Art Workshop. A workshop about this fantastic, OLD & NEW artistic medium as a part of this year’s spectacular global event. WOW!
Chalk and Street Art really do bring people back to their ancestrial roots. Our uniquely human instinctual need …to self express through creativity. Heiroglyphics in the 21st century if you will.  The experience will be exhilarating. I guarantee. As an artist working in the streets, sign painting I learned the power of colorful imagery inserted into everyday life, at a very young age.  I see how imagery markets everything to the world. I have since come to use this skill while engaging with the general public in realistic conversations about Autism. A very grounded way to connect on very deep levels!

It has been such a fantastic experience engaging with random people seemingly ‘not involved with Autism’ and learning through further discussion… that the majority in fact  are. We are indeed all connected, heARTfully.
At this years ANCA World Autism Festival I will share the story of how we built the AutismHWY.com Chalk Festival. How we came to a partnership with my fabulous hometown of Covina California. How everyone can experience the joys that ‘Street Art’ brings to people participating and spectating, something great for every community. We will see how the process emerges. I will share instruction, pointers and tips, showing the work from our past events and some of my special Autism chalkings from other festivals.

Autistic pride

Participants of the workshop will have the chance to chalk designs on square paper adhered to the table (simulating the chalk square model.) We will have imagery to prompt ART or encourage participants to work from their hearts and see what unexpected messages emerge!
BOOMWe will also be doing an inclusive rainbow color smudging which will activate us experientially. The weaving of the color scheme signifies that we all are made up of many characteristics that shift and blend throughout a lifetime! Using your fingers to literally blur your lines is a powerful feeling! It catapults us into the realization that we are all merging our similarities and/or our differing ‘ways of being’…into a NEW and more accepting way for the future.
A colorful, diverse and more intuitive way of communicating who we are. I am looking forward to authentically meeting and seeing you ALL this fall!

The Chalk Connection

Street ART is an amazing opportunity to share your work and the work of other’s whom you believe in. Chalk art is a colorful way to engage with people you have never met, yet! This weekend at the 24th annual Pasadena Chalk Festival I am once again…chalking it up with an Autistic spin!! Sharing imagery about what’s REAL in the world of AUTISM.  This is my 4th year at this Festival and the fans expect me to be here NOW! They know what I am saying is REAL and are actually looking for me to hear that. One gentlemen came running up to me so happy to CONNECT again. Fantastic times.

It is truly my pleasure to share this amazing documentary. An important film featuring the tremendous mission ANCA’s Naturally Autistic has steadfastly built for communities globally. Such a pleasure and a JOY to open hearts, minds and eyes….Now if we could just turn the Southern California Father’s day sun down to a reasonable degree!…Here is “SCENE #1″…what was put on pavement TODAY! Back tomorrow when it’s a wrap!

Scene #2: Day 2 at the 24th Pasadena Chalk Festival was a brutal 108 degrees for all of the hot Dad’s out there. I talked to quite a few of them about Autism and Heart. Another wonderfully eye-opening day for myself and all that I engaged and engaged me! Every year the love from this event compounds. People were very excited to discuss Autism in relation to what is happening in the world today and to see my presentation of this stunning documentary…

Here is the Connected Chalk Art canvas in the silent auction gallery that was bid on and won by a very excited fan that made a point to come find me! PLUS all of the fun finishing touches…on our mural!

What a wonderfully connected weekend. We were prominently displayed and made quite an impact on Pasadena this year. Thanks to the Bernstein Family for always supporting my chalking and Naturally Autistic. Most importantly for helping me through to the finish line just when I needed you both MOST!
CONNECTION is a choice…we can all make!

*EDIT

Like Rodina pictured below. She purchased the Connected Silent Auction Canvas and came to connect with me. Fantastic!
