Followed by, “Brown Paper Bag” a study in the complexities that challenge an abused mind. “Auction Block Sexuality”…Hmmm VERY, thought provoking! At 2:30 “The Molky Way” will hit the screen. This movie is a study in memories and friendship! Through the eyes of an older Iranian woman. Immediately after that you will see…A humorous take on free marketing & lemonade! Next >”778 Bullets” A historical look at the perception and realities revolving around the Black Panther Movement!
WOW ! Lots of good stuff packed in! Around 3;30 you will be viewing “Rwanda Rushya”. This film deals with the aftermath of the 1994 genocide. A study of a 16 yr. old girl that finds herself stepping up to fufill family needs. Also a view into the life of an educator optimistically trying to bring knowledge to the area !! A hot topic so to speak comes next. “In the Fire” (En El Fuego) dealing with the horrible violence that can be inflicted against transgendered individuals. Next, something a little more UP-LIFTING! “Jr. Posse” Depicts a program for inner-city kids and horses!! Equestrian THERAPY! Horses have been doing their “THING” by calming individuals with AUTISM for sometime now! This is a very interesting and VALID healing technique!
Next, you will be treated to…”Champagne Supernova”…touted as a remarkable study on relationships! Following that spirited set. Settle in for some haunting beauty in the movie “Humble Beauty”…Skid Row ARTISTS profiled over a 4 yr. time frame. I will be particularly interested in this piece ~as artists~come in all shapes and sizes! From Autistic to Homeless we all HAVE SKILLS!! Another Musical break follows Humble Beauty…in the form of The “PARKER MACY BLUES” Band!!
Next, will be the last film “The GARDEN “…which is the story of the amazing 14 acre community GARDEN in South L.A. formed after the 92 RIOT! This garden rose like a PHOENIX only to ultimately be sold and bulldozed in a SUSPECT land deal. Such a crime! This oscar nominated film will also be followed by an informative Q & A Session! WOW …so much packed into one evening! TRULY AWESOME!!
